In 2019 Lise was voted Classical Revelation of the ADAMI (the collective management organization for the rights of performers in France). From September 2021, she will be joining the Académie of the Opéra National de Paris.
Her debut took place in Bayonne in 2018 in Messager’s Véronique. Subsequently she sang Ernesto / Il Mondo della Luna by Haydn at the Paris Philharmonie, Offenbach’s Un mari à la porte with Vincent Vittoz on tour in France, Germany and Belgium and Dorabella / Cosi Fan Tutte in France.
She has a warm voice, with resonant chest register linked to a flexible upper voice (up to high E above the staff !) allied to a musicianship of great individuality and infectious flair.
On the concert platform she sings Mozart’s C- minor Mass with Claire Gibault and the Paris Mozart Orchestra, Rossini’s Petite messe solennelle with Joël Suhubiette and Les Eléments or Bach’s St Matthew Passion at Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris with Jos Van Veldhoven. Recently, Lise was invited by soprano Sabine Devieilhe and pianist Alexandre Tharaud to perform with them at the Théâtre des Champs Elysées, as part of the Momentum programm.
Lise post-graduated with full marks and honours from the Paris National Conservatoire (with Chantal Mathias). She also has a degree in Litterature and Performing Arts. Lise is supported by the Meyer Foundation.
Mezzo-soprano Lise Nougier’s musical life started out with piano lessons in her native Ardèche. She discovered singing with Marina Venant at the Valence Conservatoire. Already fascinated by drama, she combined her singing studies with a Joint Degree in Modern Literature and Drama.
Another key factor in her musical development was her encounter with Nicole Corti, whose Jeune Choeur Symphonique she joined in 2011. She then joined the professional Spirito ensemble, with performances at the Lyon Auditorium, Notre-Dame de la Salette during the Messiaen Festival, and La Côté Saint-André for the Berlioz Festival. These projects enriched her vocal technique, homogeneity of timbre and musical style, and were a chance for her to sing under such distinguished conductors as François-Xavier Roth, Léonard Slatkin and Emmanuel Krivin.
In 2016, aged 21, she gained a place in Chantal Mathias’ singing class at the Paris Conservatoire (Conservatoire Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris). Favourites amongst the roles she has studied are Rosina (Il Barbiere di Siviglia), Siebel (Faust), Cherubino (Le Nozze di Figaro) and Conception (L’Heure espagnole). In 2019 she appeared as Ernesto in Il Mondo della Luna, directed by Tito Checcherini, with staging by Marc Paquien, and in Suzanne in Offenbach’s Un mari à la porte, staged by Vincent Vittoz. She also joined the Plein jour company to play Dorabella in a show based on Mozart’s Così fan tutte, which toured throughout France.
Lise has developed a strong predilection for mélodies and Lieder, founded upon a thorough training in Anne Le Bozec’s class at the Paris Conservatoire. Her particular sensitivity to French poetry has led her to explore the song repertoire of Debussy, Chausson, Fauré, Caplet, Ropartz and Ravel. This exploration continues with the duo she created with pianist Kishin Nagai in 2017. During their training, they have had the good fortune to work with pianist Harmut Höll on Lieder by Schubert and Wolf.
Lise has been invited to take part in a large number of music festivals such as Les Musicales de Colmar, Les Automnales du Mans, the Concerts d’Automnes in Tours and the Maurice Ravel.
Lise was voted Révélation Lyrique 2019 by the French performers’ rights society ADAMI
